Highlights:
♦ World Vegetarian Day is celebrated to signify the thought of the environment, animal welfare, and personal health benefits. 
♦ The week from October 1 to 7 is observed as International Vegetarian Week, which was encouraged by the International vegetarian union in 1977 with its headquarters in the U.K.
♦ Ancient Greek Philosopher Pythagoras was an early follower of the vegetarian diet so it was called the ‘Pythagorean Diet’ for a really long time.
♦ The World Vegetarian Day is established by the North American Vegetarian Society in 1977.
