20 October 2021 Current Affairs:World Statistics Day is observed worldwide on 20 October to highlight the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics achievements.

Highlights:
♦ The celebration of World Statistics Day 2021 is organized under the guidance of the United Nations Statistical Commission.
♦ The UN General Assembly adopted 20 October 2010 as the first-ever World Statistics Day under the general theme “Celebrating the many achievements of official statistics. 
♦ In 2015,  20 October was the second World Statistics Day under the general theme “Better data, better lives,”.
♦ Ever since World Statistics Day has been celebrated every five years on 20 October.
♦ The primary significance of world statistics day is that statistics make things easier and faster.
♦ It also gives a clear glimpse of your past and present status and plays a significant role in growth and development in all aspects of a country. 
♦ It involves the collection, analysis, and interpretation of large amounts of numerical data.
♦ The United Nations Statistical Commission was Founded in 1947 with the United Nations Economic and Social Council as the Parent organization.
♦ Shigeru Kawasaki of Japan now holds the United Nations Statistical Commission Chair.
