World Red Cross Day is on 8th May
Highlights:
♦ Henry Dunant was the recipient of the first Nobel Peace Prize.
♦ The main goal of the Red Cross is basically to inspire, initiate and encourage various humanitarian activities at any time and under any circumstances.
♦ The plan carried out by the Red Cross can be roughly divided into four parts, including the promotion of humanitarian principles and values; disaster response; disaster preparedness; and health and care.
♦ The Red Cross is based on seven principles, namely, humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntariness, unity and universality.
♦ Indian Red Cross Society: IRCS is a voluntary humanitarian organization that protects human life and health through its network of more than 1,100 branches throughout India. It was established in the year 1920 and has completed its 100 years of existence.
