Highlights:
♦ The World Migratory Bird Day was celebrated first in 2006.
♦ It was first celebrated on the Second Saturday of May and again on the Second Saturday of October.
♦ In 2021, the WMBBD falls on 08 May 2021 and 09 October 2021.
♦ The theme for World Migratory Bird Day 2021 is “Sing, Fly, Soar – sort of a Bird!”
♦ The day is commemorated to spread awareness for the requirement to conserve migratory birds and their habitats.
♦ The day is coordinated by a collaborative alliance among two UN treaties, that includes the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) and also the African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbird Agreement (AEWA) and the Colorado-based non-profit organization, Environment for the Americas (EFTA)
