21 August 2021 Current Affairs:World Humanitarian Day (WHD) is observed each and every year on 19 August to pay tribute to humanitarian personnel and these workers who lost or risked their lives whilst doing humanitarian service. In 2021 we are celebrating the twelfth WHD.

Highlights:
♦ The theme WHD 2021 is #TheHumanRace: a world task for climate motion in solidarity with human beings who want it the most.
♦ August 19 marks the Humanitarian day on which the then Special Representative of the Secretary-General to Iraq, Sérgio Vieira de Mello & 21 of his colleagues had been killed in the bombing of the UN Headquarters in Baghdad. ♦ World Humanitarian Day was venerated for the first time on 19 August 2009, after it was once formally recognised by way of the United Nations General Assembly in 2009.
