World Energy Transitions Outlook – 1.5C Pathway

12 April 2021 Current Affairs:The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) released the “World Energy Transition Outlook” report.

Highlights:
♦ The report proposes an energy conversion solution for the narrow path that can be used to control the temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
♦ The COVID-19 crisis provides countries with unexpected opportunities to decouple the economies of the country from fossil fuels and accelerate the shift to renewable energy.
♦ It is estimated that by 2050, renewable energy will meet 90% of total electricity demand, followed by natural gas, and the rest will come from nuclear energy.
♦ The agency has identified 30 innovations for integrating wind energy and solar photovoltaic into the power system.
♦ International Renewable Energy Agency is an intergovernmental organization. Its mission is to promote cooperation and promote the adoption and sustainable use of renewable energy.
