29 November 2021 Current Affairs:The women’s Involvement in Science & Engineering Research (WISER) program was Inaugurated on November 26, 2021.

Highlights:
♦ WISER Program, first-of-its-kind, was launched to encourage women in research and development by lateral entry.
♦ It was started by Indo-German Science & Technology Centre (IGSTC) to support women researchers in R&D projects.
♦ WISER programme will allow gender equality and the assistance of women in Science & Technology through IGSTC’s program.
♦ In accession to the open-ended flagship, the WISER program was launched as a 2+2 program of the IGSTC.
♦ IGSTC’s program is a joint action of the Department of Science & Technology (DST), India, and Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education & Research (BMBF).
♦ This program will help women scientists take regular or long-term research positions in academia or research institutes, or industry. Women can be involved in this program through side entry. 
♦ There is no provision of break-in-career or any age limit, and it will enable easy assistance.
♦ IGSTC will support the awardees with a maximum amount of Rs. 39 Lakh from the Indian side and € 48000 from the German side. The WISER program will offer 20 awards per year.
