Virtual Summit Between India and Netherlands
12 April 2021 Current Affairs:The Prime Minister of India and the Prime Minister of the Netherlands held a virtual summit on 9th April, 2021.
♦ This is the first high-level summit attended by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte after the general election in March 2021.
♦ During the summit, the leaders of the two countries exchanged views on further expanding the relationship between trade and economy, water management, agriculture, smart cities, science and technology, healthcare and space.
♦ The two prime ministers also agreed to establish a “Water Strategic Partnership” to further deepen India-Dutch cooperation with water-related departments and upgrade the joint working group on water issues to ministerial level.
♦ The Indo-Pacific policy of the Netherlands is also welcomed.
♦ The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to establishing a rules-based multilateral order to ensure international peace, stability and prosperity, and look forward to the successful Indo-European summit in Porto, Portugal, in May 2021.
