Vaccine Finder Tool Introduced in India by Facebook

05 May 2021 Current Affairs:Facebook has partnered with the government of India to launch a vaccine finder tool in its Indian mobile app that will help people identify nearby places that need to be vaccinated. 

Highlights:
♦ The social media giant announced this week that it will provide a $10 million grant for an emergency response to the country’s COVID-19 situation.
♦ Facebook will work with the government of India to start rolling out its Vaccine Finder tool on the Facebook mobile app in India, which is available in 17 languages to help people identify nearby places to get vaccines. “
♦ The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) used this tool to provide the location of the vaccine centre and its opening hours.
♦ The cumulative dose of the COVID-19 vaccine administered in the country has exceeded 1522 million.
♦ Similarly, more than 2.45 million people have registered on the Co-WIN digital platform before the COVID-19 vaccine phase 3 vaccination started on May 1.
