UN Public Service Day 23rd June

24 June 2021 Current Affairs:United Nations Public Service Day is designated on 23rd June each and every year and it is observed globally. 

Highlights:
♦ This day is to spotlight the contribution of public service in the development system and to cost public service to the community.  
♦ This day is widely known by way of more than a few public service establishments and departments round the world by means of organising quite a few events.
♦ As a part of the occasion, the Division of Public Institutions & Digital Government of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs will host a digital event, in collaboration with the authorities of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), under the theme – Innovating the Future Public Service: New Government Models for a New Era to Reach the SDGs.

Background:
♦ On 20 December 2002, the United Nations General Assembly distinctive 23 June per annum to watch as United Nations Public Service Day by means of passing a decision 57/277. This day marks the anniversary of the date when the International Labour Organization (ILO) adopted the Convention on Labour Relations (Public Service), 1978 (No. 151) for determining the working conditions of all civil servants all over the world.
