Tribes India Contest by TRIFED
05 April 2021 Current Affairs:TRIFED (Tribal Cooperative Market Development Association Limited), the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and the Indian government launched two interesting competitions for the tribal people. They are the Become a Brand Ambassador of the Indian Tribe and Become a Friend of the Indian Tribe contest. The competition was initiated jointly with MyGov.in.
♦ The launch of the competition is mainly to promote tribal handicrafts, lifestyle and culture. These competitions will help raise public awareness of tribal heritage, handicrafts and arts. With more awareness, citizens will make more contributions to tribal empowerment by buying more tribal products.
♦ Become a brand ambassador for Indian tribes – The contest invited stories featuring tribal products from all over the country. This story should highlight the customer’s experience in using tribal products.
♦ Become a “friend” of TRIBES INDIA – This is a quiz contest about Indian culture.
♦ Tribes account for 8% of India’s population. However, they are the most vulnerable part of society. A general attitude prevailing among the public is that tribes must be taught and helped. However, the fact is that tribal residents have many ways to educate Indian cities. Their handicrafts, arts and skills need to be preserved and promoted.
♦ The competition will help achieve these goals. The competition is mainly organized by TRIFED. TRIFED is committed to improving the lives of tribal people.
♦ Van Dhan Yojana was launched in 2018. Its purpose is to promote the production of secondary forest products by establishing Van Dhan Vikas Kendras. These Kendra provide training facilities, infrastructure support, skills building support, and working capital for tribal residents. In August 2020, TRIFED and the Ministry of Food Processing Industry jointly launched the TRIFOOD project. These TRIFOOD parks are operated together with Van Dhan Yojana. In March 2020, the Technology for Tribes program was launched. It aims to provide training for forest product collectors. The plan enables tribal entrepreneurs to use marketable products to run their own businesses. Van Dhan Samajik Doori Jagrookta Abhiyan was launched to educate tribal residents about COVID-19 related safety measures. The programme was launched jointly with UNICEF.
