28 September 2021 Current Affairs:The new version, Akash Prime, was successfully flight tested yesterday from the Integrated range at Chandipur in Odisha.
Highlights
♦ After improvements, the missile ambushed and destroyed an aerial target simulating enemy aircraft in its first flight test.
♦ Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has complimented DRDO, Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Defence Public Sector Undertaking and application for the successful trials of Akash Prime Missile.
♦ Chairman of DRDO Dr G. Satheesh Reddy praised the team for the successful flight trial of Akash Prime Missile.
♦ Compared to the present Akash System, Akash Prime is supplied with better improvements that ensure more reliable performance.
♦ A remodelled ground system of the prevailing Akash weapon has been used for the present flight test.
