10 December 2021 Current Affairs:Sanket Mahadev Sargar, an Indian weightlifter, won gold at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships on 8 December.
Highlights:
- At the current Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships 2021 which happened on 8 December, Sanket Mahadev Sargar won gold in the Men’s 55 kg snatch category.
- In the men’s 55kg snatch category, he set a new national record by lifting 113kg.
- Sargar has also qualified for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Birmingham.
- The Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships 2021, as well as the World Weightlifting Championships 2021, are being held in Tashkent from December 7 to 17.
- The Indian contingent is competing in both the Commonwealth Senior Championships and the Weightlifting Championships.
