31 December 2021 Current Affairs:The Sahitya Akademi announced its prestigious “Sahitya Akademi Awards, Yuva Puraskar, and Bal Sahitya Puraskar” for 2021 in various languages on 30 December.
Highlights:
- It is an annual literary award given by the Sahitya Akademi in India.
- The award is given to authors of the most outstanding books of literary merit published in any of the 24 major Indian languages and 22 languages listed in the Indian Constitution’s Eighth Schedule.
- In 1954, the award was established. In 20 Indian languages, the Sahitya Akademy Award 2021 was presented.
- In English, it went to Namita Gokhale for her novel ‘Things to Leave Behind.’
- In total, 22 Indian languages were used to award the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar 2021.
- This award went to Megha Majumdar for her debut novel, ‘A Burning,’ which was released in 2020. The struggles of life in India are the subject of this book.
- The Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2021 was given in 22 Indian languages.
- In the English language, Anita Vachharajani won the award. ‘Amrita Sher-Gil: Rebel With A Paintbrush,’ a children’s book, won her an award.
