The Ramnath Goenka Award for Photojournalism was given to Zishaan A Latif.

Highlights:

The Ramnath Goenka Award for Photo Journalism went to Zishaan A Latif.
His photo essay, The strenuous struggle for inclusion in the NRC, was printed in The Caravan in October 2019 and won him the award.
He documented the plight of people who had their names removed from the National Register of Citizens (NRC), putting a face to an otherwise anonymous human story.
Latif traveled through four Assam districts a month just after the NRC list was published, documenting people’s struggle to be included in the list.
The Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards were established as part of the Indian Express Group’s centennial year celebrations of its founder, Ramnath Goenka.
Every year, the Awards aim to honor excellence in journalism, recognize courage and dedication, and highlight outstanding contributions and individuals.
The most renowned annual event in the Indian media calendar honors journalists from print, digital, and broadcast who, despite political and economic pressures, maintain the rigorous quality of their profession and produce work that builds and maintains public trust in the media and has an impact on people’s lives.
