16 November 2021 Current Affairs:The Purvanchal Express, a 341-kilometer train line in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Highlights:
♦ The highway, which connects the state capital of Lucknow with Ghazipur, is expected to cost Rs 22,500 crore to build.
♦ In a military transport plane, PM Modi arrived at the Purvanchal Expressway airfield. 
♦ The Expressway’s main feature is a 3.2-kilometer-long airstrip that allows Indian Air Force fighter jets to land and take off in an emergency.

Purvanchal Expressway:
♦ The Purvanchal Expressway runs from village Chaudsarai in the Lucknow district to Haidaria village, 18 kilometres east of the Uttar Pradesh-Bihar border, on National Highway 31.
♦ The expressway is now six lanes wide, although it can be extended to eight lanes in the future.
♦ The eastern region of Uttar Pradesh, particularly the districts of Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau, and Ghazipur, would benefit from this highway.
