Highlights:
♦ The SVAMITVA scheme 1,71,000 beneficiaries received e-property cards from PM Modi on 6 October.
♦ SVAMITA scheme, Survey of Villages Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas, is central.
♦ The Scheme implemented by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj aims to provide property rights to residents across rural areas and use the property as a financial asset by villagers to take loans and other financial benefits in urban areas.
♦ The scheme also boosts the ecosystem of drone manufacturing in India.
♦SVAMITVA scheme was launched on 24 April 2021, marking the National Panchayati Raj Day.
♦ It is a joint effort of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, State Revenue Department, State Panchayati Raj Departments and Survey of India.
♦ The scheme plans to map rural areas using drones and the Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS).
Objectives:
♦ To create accurate land records for rural planning, to cut back property-related disputes
♦ To bring financial stability for rural citizens by enabling them to use their property as a financial asset to require loans etc.
♦ To determine land tax.
