15 November 2021 Current Affairs:Every year, from November 18 to 24, World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) is observed.

Highlights:
♦ The World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) aims to raise worldwide antimicrobial resistance awareness.
♦ It also encourages the best practises among the general public, health professionals, and policymakers in order to prevent the emergence and spread of drug-resistant illnesses.
Spread Awareness, Stop Resistance is the theme for 202.
♦ It encourages One Health stakeholders, policymakers, health care providers, and the general public to become Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness advocates.
♦ When bacteria adapt to escape being destroyed by antibiotics, this is known as antibiotic resistance.
♦ Treating bacterial infections becomes much more difficult, if not impossible, as a result of this. Overuse and abuse of antibiotics worsens the problem of antibiotic resistance. We are all part of the problem as well as the solution.
♦ For the first time in Europe, this notion was offered in 2007. The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) scheduled meetings in response to this resolution to investigate the issue and devise a plan.
♦ They also intended to develop resources and equipment that would be distributed to different countries. This project was awarded the title European Antibiotics Awareness Day (EAAD).
