09 April 2021 Current Affairs:India has become a leader in high-power computing through the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM).
Highlights: 
♦ Launched NSM to enhance India’s research capabilities by connecting them together with a supercomputing grid with the National Knowledge Network (NKN) as the backbone.
♦ Guided by: Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Department of Science and Technology (DST).
♦ Implemented by the following institutions: Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) of the University of Pune and Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore (IISc).
♦ The second phase of NSM will be completed in September 2021, when the country’s computing power will reach 16 Petaflops (PF).
