Highlights:
♦ Every year on November 9th, all Legal Services Authorities in India commemorates the enactment of the Legal Services Authorities Act 1987 by celebrating “National Legal Services Day.”
♦ The purpose of the day is to raise public awareness of the different provisions of the Legal Services Authorities Act, as well as the rights of litigants.
♦ The Legal Services Authorities Act 1987 was passed on October 11, 1987, and went into force on November 9, 1995.
♦ The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) was established on December 5, 1995, under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, to provide free legal services to the poor and to conduct Lok Adalats for the peaceful resolution of disputes.
