Maulana Abul Azad
♦ Maulana Abul Azad was a senior leader of the Indian National Congress and an Indian independence campaigner, writer, and Islamic theologian (INC).
♦ He was the First Minister of Education of Independent India, serving in Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s cabinet from 1947 to 1958.
♦ In his youth, he wrote Urdu poetry and treatises on religion and philosophy. Through his work as a journalist and the publication of writings critical of the British Raj, he rose to notoriety.
