About International Day of Living Together in Peace:
♦ The day is commemorated in order to promote worldwide cooperation and respect for human rights and freedom for all people, regardless of race, gender, religion, or language.
♦ The International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Nonviolence for Children was declared by the United Nations from 2001 to 2010.
♦ The International Day of Living Together in Peace was created to protect future generations from the effects of war.
♦ The United Nations declared the year 2000 as the International Year of Peace Culture in 1997.
♦ The United Nations passed a resolution titled “Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace” in 1999. It acts as a universal call to foster a culture of nonviolence and peace.
