07 April 2021 Current Affairs:The International Sports for Development and Peace Day has been celebrated since 2014 with the purpose of promoting and celebrating the power of sports in promoting social change, promoting peace and understanding. 
Highlights:
♦ On April 6, 2017, the International Sports for Development and Peace International Day (IDSDP) was held all over the world. The date is to commemorate the opening of the first modern Olympic Games held in Athens (Greece) in 1896. 
♦ On August 23, 2013, Resolution A/RES/67/296 decided to declare April 6 as “Sports for Development and Peace International Day”. The adoption of Sports Day shows that sports can have a positive impact on the development of human rights and economic development.
♦ In addition, the United States also emphasized the role of sports in social progress in its “2030 Agenda Declaration for Sustainable Development.”
♦ In addition, the UN Security Council declared 2005 as the International Year of Sport and Physical Education at its 58th session to promote education, health, development and peace.
