11 October 2021 Current Affairs:The International Day Of Girl Child is celebrated on 11 October to empower girls and raise their voices against the difficulties they face.

Highlights:
♦ The day acknowledges the importance and potentials of young girls by encouraging them to open up for more opportunities.
♦ It is also observed to eliminate the gender-based challenges those girls face in the world.
♦ This includes the fight against child marriages, poor learning opportunities, violence, and discrimination.
♦ The Theme for International Day Of Girl Child 2021 is ‘Digital generation. Our generation.’
♦ UN General Assembly adopted 11 October as International Day for the girl child in 2012, 11 October.
♦ The day is celebrated by sharing stories, blogs, videos of talented young girls who are tech trailblazers while collectively amplifying our call to action to expand these pathways for every girl, everywhere.
♦ Expand our GEF and other commitments to address the gender digital divide experienced by today’s generation of girls
♦ Demonstrating that we must take a robust generational gender lens to the digital divide if we have to achieve meaningful and sustainable change for a digital revolution.
