International Day for the Fight against Illegal and Unreported and Unregulated Fishing 5th June

05 June 2021 Current Affairs:International Day for the Fight in opposition to Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing is prepared each and every 12 months on fifth June. 

Highlights:
♦ According to the Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO), illegal, unreported & unregulated fishing things are responsible for the loss of nearly 11 to 26 million tonnes of fish every year, that is estimated to have an economical fee of US$10–23 billion.
♦ In 2015, the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean of the Food and Agricultural Organisation proposed that an initiative be launched to declare an UN International Day for the Fight against Illegal, Unreported & Unregulated Fishing. Following extensive consultations, a concept used to be submitted to the attention of the thirty-second session of the FAO Committee on Fisheries. 
♦ In 2017 December, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), in its annual resolution on sustainable fisheries, proclaimed 5th June as the International Day for the Fight Against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing.
