On November 25, the United Nations designated International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is observed globally. 

Highlights:

The day is observed to raise awareness of the fact that women all around the world face various types of violence
Also to raise awareness about how the full scale of the problem is frequently concealed.
 “Orange the World: End Violence Against Women Now!” is the theme for this year’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
In 1981, activists at the Latin American and Caribbean Feminist Encuentros designated November 25 as a day to oppose and raise awareness of violence against women in general
On December 17, 1999, the day was officially recognised by the United Nations (UN).
