International Day for Biological Diversity is on 22 May

22 May 2021 Current Affairs:The United Nations celebrates International Biodiversity Day on May 22 every year to raise people’s awareness of the substantial reduction in biodiversity caused by certain human activities.

Highlights:
Biodiversity includes a variety of plants, animals, and microorganisms, including genetic differences within each species, such as genetic differences between crop varieties and livestock varieties.
The theme of the year 2021 is “We are part of the solution”. The choice of this slogan is a continuation of the overall momentum of last year’s theme “Our solutions in nature”, which reminds people that biodiversity is still the answer to several sustainable development challenges.
