26 November 2021 Current Affairs:India and the Asian Development Bank have signed a USD 300 million financing agreement to increase urban healthcare access.

Highlights
♦ This agreement was signed by Rajat Kumar Mishra, a senior official in the Department of Economic Affairs, and Takeo Konishi, the Asian Development Bank’s country director in India.
♦ The credit arrangement will aim to enhance and improve access to comprehensive primary health care in 13 states’ metropolitan regions.
♦ More than 256 million urban inhabitants will benefit from it, including 51 million from slum regions.
♦ This loan will be used to support the program’s efforts to improve pandemic preparation and comprehensive primary health care in urban areas.
♦ It also contributes to the government’s efforts to close healthcare gaps by improving the operations, institutional capacity, and administration of urban health and wellness centres at the municipal, state, and national levels.
♦This initiative will be implemented in 13 states, including Assam, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, in metropolitan areas.
