IAF 89th Foundation Day Observed On 8 October

Highlights:
♦ Air Force Day parade happened at the Hindon airbase, Ghaziabad.
♦ Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane, and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh were present.
♦ The parade was examined by IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari.
♦ This occasion is being honoured as ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ to memorialise the victory of the 1971 war.
♦ On occasion, VR Chaudhari also presented the Vayu Sena Medal – Chivalry to the officers.
♦ Indian Air Force (IAF), the supreme air arm of the Indian Armed Forces, was founded on 8 October 1932. It is headquartered in New Delhi, called Vayu Bhawan. The slogan of IAF is ‘Glory that touches the sky.’
♦ President of India is the supreme commander of IAF.
