Global Cybersecurity Index – ITU

03 July 2021 Current Affairs:India was ranked tenth in the International Telecommunication Union’s 2020 Global Cyber Security Index.
Top countries: the United States (1st), the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia (2nd), and Estonia (3rd) 
The performance of cybersecurity is based on five parameters: legal measures, technical measures, organisational measures, capacity development, and cooperation.

About India’s performance:
♦ India finished with a total score of 97.5.
♦ India has risen to fourth place in the Asia Pacific region;
♦ India is on its way to becoming a worldwide IT superpower.
♦ There has been significant overall improvement and strengthening of the cybersecurity domain.

About International Telecommunication Union:
♦ It is a United Nations specialised agency for information and communication technologies (ICTs).
♦ It was founded in 1865.
♦ Goal: To improve international connectivity in communication networks.
♦ The headquarters are in Geneva, Switzerland.
