The Ministry of Rural Development of the Government of India (MoRD) and Flipkart has signed an MoU for the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana.

Highlights:

An MoU between the ministry and Flipkart aims to empower local businesses and self-help groups by including them in the eCommerce world.
The objective of this is the same as the DAY-NRLM’s objective of increasing the capabilities of rural communities for self-employment and entrepreneurship.
This MoU is a part of Flipkart’s Samarth program, launched in 2019 as a sustainable and comprehensive policy for empowering underserved domestic communities & businesses by equipping them with opportunities and livelihoods.
It will also provide them with dedicated help for knowledge and training. It will develop avenues for business and trade inclusion as well as help in creating & sustaining better livelihood opportunities.
NRLM is a poverty alleviation project, which the Ministry of Rural Development executes.
This project centres on promoting self-employment and the organization of the poor across rural India.
It attempts to establish the poor into Self Help Groups (SHGs) and make them capable of self-employment. NRLM was started in 2011 with a budget cost of $5.1 billion.
