25 August 2021 Current Affairs:Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) developed India’s first indigenous motorised wheelchair car known as NeoBolt.

Highlights:
♦ NeoBolt can be used on roads as nicely as on uneven terrains.
♦ It has a maximum velocity of 25 kmph and it can travel up to 25 km per charge.
♦ It was developed to empower wheelchair customers a convenient, safe and lower priced mode of out of doors mobility as in contrast to cars, auto rickshaws and modified scooters.
♦ It is powered via a Lithium-Ion Battery.
♦ NeoBolt is a motor-powered attachment that converts the wheelchair into a safe, road-worthy vehicle.
♦ India presently imports 2.5 lakh wheelchairs out of the complete three lakh wheelchairs that are sold in India annually. This is because merchandise with similar facets are reachable only in the worldwide market. But these wheelchairs are three to 5 times more expensive in contrast to what has been developed via IIT Madras researchers.
