♦ Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of Ayurveda and Folk Medicine Research (NEIAFMR) and Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, announced plans to expand the ‘North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Folk Medicine Research (NEIAFMR)’ in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh.
♦ The NEIAFMR will grow by constructing additional infrastructure on campus.
♦ The goal of this effort is to improve the AYUSH industry in Arunachal Pradesh and the wider northeast area.
♦ The development of additional infrastructure at the NEIAFMR would cost around Rs 53.72 crores.
♦ A new Ayurveda College with 30 seats and a new Ayurveda Hospital with 60 beds will be built as part of the development project.
♦ As a result, 86 jobs would be directly created as a result of this project.
NEIAFMR – North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Folk Medicine Research
♦ The AYUSH Ministry’s NEIAFMR is an independent National Institute.
♦ NEIFM was founded in Pasighat to perform systematic investigation, documentation, and validation of the region’s traditional health practices and folk medicine.
♦ The Institute was founded with the goal of serving as an apex research centre for all aspects of folk medicine and serving as a bridge between scientific study, survey, validation, and recording of traditional healers and folk medical practices.
