21 August 2021 Current Affairs:DBT-BIRAC supported ZyCoV-D developed through Zydus Cadila Receives Emergency Use Authorization. Zydus Cadila has obtained approval for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) for ZyCoV-D.
Highlights:
♦ ZyCoV-D is the world’s first and India’s indigenously developed DNA based total vaccine for COVID-19 to be administered in human beings along with youngsters and adults (12 years and above).
♦ This is a three-dose vaccine and is the sixth vaccine authorised for use in the0 country.
♦ ZyCoV-D is the world’s first plasmid DNA vaccine towards the coronavirus. It makes use of a part of genetic cloth from the virus that gives directions as either DNA or RNA to make the particular protein that the immune gadget recognises and responds to.
