Canada Approves Mixing & Matching Covid-19 Vaccine Brands
♦ The National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) issued guidelines for provinces and territories regarding the mixing and matching of second doses of Covid-19 vaccines.
♦ It recommends that Canadians use the “AstraZeneca-Oxford, Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna shots” interchangeably under certain circumstances.
♦ NACI recommended it based on preliminary research from the United Kingdom and Spain.
♦ According to the findings, mixing shots of AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines was both safe and effective in preventing the disease.
♦ It is advised that the first shot of AstraZeneca vaccine be followed by shots of Moderna or Pfizer.
