31 August 2021 Current Affairs:The UN International Day for People of African Descent is celebrated for the first time on 31 August 2021.
Highlights:
♦ The United Nations goals to promote the fantastic contributions of the African diaspora round the world and to remove all types of discrimination against people of African descent.
♦ The 2020 year marked the midterm of the International Decade for People of African Descent. While some proceedings has been made at legislative, coverage and institutional levels, human beings of African descent proceed to go through intersectional and compounded varieties of racial discrimination, marginalization, and exclusion.
♦ On June 19th 2020, the Human Rights Council adopted the resolution on the “Promotion and safety of the human rights and critical freedoms of Africans and human beings of African descent in opposition to immoderate use of force and different human rights violations via regulation enforcement officers”.
