13 October 2021 Current Affairs:Amit Khare, Former higher education secretary, was appointed as advisor to PM Modi on 12 October. 

Highlights:
♦ Amit Khare, former higher education secretary was appointed as the advisor of PM Modi after the appointment committee of the cabinet gave its approval.
♦ His appointment is on a contract basis of two years until further orders are issued. 
He gets to enjoy the rank and scale of the secretary to the Union government.
♦ As Higher Education Secretary, Khare helped in shaping the new National Education Policy (NEP).
♦ He also served as information and broadcasting ministry secretary from May 2018 to December 2019.
♦  He has also served as the vice-chancellor of Ranchi University and Commissioner of Jharkhand.
♦ Amit Khare got retired from the IAS position in the month of September 2021. He is an  IAS officer of the 1985 batch from the Jharkhand cadre.
