Airborne Transmission of SARS-COV-2 Virus
♦ The alert is in line with new research suggesting that virus transmission by air, especially in enclosed spaces, cannot be ruled out.
♦ Initially, it was thought that the virus spreads primarily by large droplets that are expelled when a person speaks, sneezes, or coughs.
♦ Due to their large size, these droplets can only travel a short distance before falling to the ground.
♦ An individual 6 feet (2 metres) away was thought to be immune to infection.
♦ However, in the past few months, scientists have found more and more evidence that the virus is also spread through aerosols.
