The first Trilateral Working Group (TWG) Meeting between India, Iran and Uzbekistan on the joint use of Chabahar Port was held.
Highlights:
♦ The meeting was co-chaired by the Secretary (Shipping), Government of India, the Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan and the Deputy Minister of Transport of Iran.
♦ During the meeting, participants discussed the joint use of Chabahar Port for trade and transit purposes and to enhance regional connectivity.
♦ All parties also welcome India’s proposal to hold a “Chabahar Day” during the International Maritime Summit scheduled to be hosted by India in January 2021.
♦ The meeting was a follow-up to the decisions made during the virtual summit between the Prime Minister of India and the President of Uzbekistan.
