The Centre took a decision to assess the institute with eminence tag on the basis of parameters used in top international ranking such as QS and Times rankings. The prestigious ‘institute of eminence’ (IoE) tag are provided to 20 higher education institutes to assess the progress.

How the international ranking is decided?
The universities are raked on the basis of the parameters including academic and employer reputation, research citations per faculty, faculty-student ratio, international faculty and international student ratios.
Institute of eminence (IoE) tag
20 institutes of higher education have been given IoE tag for the past two years. The institute include 10 private and 10 public sectors institute. By providing this tag, the government has offered additional monetary assistance to public institutions while greater autonomy has been provided to private sector in setting and running the campuses. In 2019 Banaras Hindu University, IITs in Delhi, Bombay, Madras and Kharagpur, Indian Institute of Science, Delhi University, Hyderabad University and Jadavpur University were provided this tag.

विश्वविद्यालयों को शैक्षणिक और नियोक्ता प्रतिष्ठा, प्रति संकाय प्रति शोध उद्धरण, संकाय-छात्र अनुपात, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संकाय और अंतरराष्ट्रीय छात्र अनुपात सहित मापदंडों के आधार पर रेक किया जाता है।
इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ एमिनेंस (IoE) टैग
